On Saturday, we got up early and took a river boat cruise up to the Grand Palace where the King and Queen used to call their residence. It was a large estate which included the massive Green Emerald Buddha Wat. After the Grand Palace was a visit to the impressive and very massive Lying Buddha nearby. The rest of the evening was spent getting Nick a couple of nice tailored suits and partying it up on Khao San Road.
On Sunday, we enjoyed half of the day at the large weekend JJ market up north in Bangkok. Nick met his match when he tried a super spicy dish of Thai noodles from a small vendor in the market. Panthip Plaza was the next stop. Ben found himself some chap computer accessories and Nick treated himself to a nice webcam. For dinner, we enjoyed a large hot pot of Tom Yum soup at a popular outdoor seafood restaurant in Chinatown. It was the best Tom Yum soup Liya has ever tried! The rest of the evening was spent relaxing at the hotel pool and catching up with family back home via Skype. It was Liya’s Momma’s birthday on the 25th so it was great to wish her a great one via video chat.
Next city, Chiang Mai.
